A wanted suspect who barricaded inside a Palm Desert residence was taken into custody after a standoff with deputies, as authorities continued their investigation Wednesday.

Deputies responded shortly before 3:50 p.m. Tuesday to the 74000 block of East Hovley Lane regarding a wanted suspect, according to Lt. Deirdre Vickers of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

When deputies arrived, the suspect — whose identity was not released — ran into a residence, refused to come out and would not comply with orders, Vickers said.

The department’s Crisis Negotiation Team was called to the scene and attempted to negotiate a peaceful surrender, Vickers said. With assistance from the department’s K-9 unit, the suspect was taken into custody.

Further details, including the alleged charges, were not immediately released.
