A Silver Alert was activated for an at-risk 77-year-old, shoeless woman who went missing Sunday in Costa Mesa.
Edina Da Costa Sampaio was last seen at about 12:40 a.m. Sunday, according to the California Highway Patrol, which activated the alert on behalf of the Costa Mesa Police Department.
Da Costa Sampaio, who was believed to be on foot, was described as a 5-feet-3-inch tall woman weighing 130 pounds with gray hair and brown eyes.
She was last seen wearing a gray, long-sleeved pajamas shirt, gray pajama pants and no shoes.
Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts was urged to call 911.
The CHP established the Silver Alert program to issue and coordinate searches for missing elderly, developmentally disabled, or cognitively impaired individuals.
