Police Tuesday were investigating the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy in North Hills that authorities believe was gang-related.

Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a shots-fired call at approximately 8:15 p.m. Monday in the 8700 block of North Sepulveda Boulevard, near Parthenia Street, where they found the victim, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.

According to police, the officers learned two separate shootings involving several juvenile males had occurred, resulting in the victim being wounded in front of a pawn shop.

Two suspects drove up in a car and opened fire, striking the 17-year-old, police said. Paramedics took the victim to Northridge Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. His name was not released.

Detailed descriptions of the suspects were not immediately available.

The Valley Section of the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division was investigating the fatal shooting and anyone with information that could help identify the suspects was urged to call 818-374-9550 to speak with Detective Schwartz.

Anonymous tips can be submitted through LA Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477).
