A 32-year-old man suspected of being armed with a knife and chainsaw inside a house in Lake Elsinore Wednesday and threatening family members was taken into custody.

Deputies assigned to the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station responded shortly before 10:55 a.m. Wednesday to the 400 block of Lookout Street, about a quarter-mile east of Main Street, regarding reports of an assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.

The responding deputies were advised upon arrival that a man was inside a house, armed with a knife and a chainsaw, and had allegedly threatened family members before leaving, still armed with the chainsaw and then reentering.

According to the sheriff’s office, all occupants were able to exit safely as deputies continued negotiating in an effort to coax the suspect out of the house.

The suspect was identified as Agustin Enrique Arana of Lake Elisnore, who was arrested and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

Anyone with information regarding the alleged assault was urged to call Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station Deputy Sagale at 951-245-3300.
