A young woman who died at a hospital after rescuers were called to her location along Sierra Highway in Palmdale appeared to have suffered a drug overdose, a sheriff’s department official said Wednesday.
A 911 caller reported the victim was down along Sierra Highway north of Avenue Q, according to a lieutenant at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Palmdale Station, who said the woman appeared to be in her 20s and had vital signs when she was first located around 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel took her to Palmdale Regional Medical Center, which informed the sheriff’s department a few hours later that the woman had died.
Although it appeared the woman died of drug overdose, sheriff’s homicide detectives were investigating and the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s would determine the official cause of death, the lieutenant said.
