Authorities continued their search Friday for the assailant who stabbed a man along the CV Link path in Palm Springs.

The assault was reported about 2:40 p.m. on Dec. 31 between Cathedral Canyon and Golf Club drives, according to the Palm Springs Police Department.

Police said the victim, whose identity was not revealed, was walking when he made eye contact with a man near the path. When the victim later returned to that location, the suspect put on a ski mask and approached while yelling profanities, then knocked him to the ground. The victim fought off the suspect, who fled on foot.

However, the victim discovered he had been stabbed. It was unclear what type of weapon was used.

The man was taken to a local hospital without undisclosed injuries.

Police described the suspect as a white man in his 40s with a thin build, but no further description was provided. He was last seen wearing a maroon hoodie.

Anyone with information was urged to contact Detective Gilberto Alcaraz at 760-323-8123, or at gilberto.alcaraz@palmspringsca.gov.
