Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman has written to the Trump administration to complain after an employee of his department was “wrongfully detained” by U.S. immigration officials, it was reported Saturday.
The incident occurred Friday, the Los Angeles Times reported.
“A member of our office was wrongfully detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). I can thankfully report that, shortly after, our employee was released and is safe,” Hochman wrote in the letter, The Times reported. “This incident is unacceptable. Our employee is a dedicated public servant who serves the people of Los Angeles County with professionalism and integrity. This troubling situation caused great distress to our colleague, our co-worker’s family, and our entire office family.”
Neither Hochman’s office nor Immigrations and Customs Enforcement officials immediately responded to a request for comment sent by City News Service on Saturday.
Local officials have complained that immigration officials have detained many people without cause amid President Donald Trump’s ongoing crackdown on illegal immigration.

What happened to we’re concentrating on the worst of the worst? We all see what’s really going on with Mr. tRUMP’s immigration crackdown.
What really happened. Why was LE suspicious about that person? Where were they? What were they doing? What ID did they provide? Were they cooperative? Were they part of a larger group? Let’s not jump to conclusions here until we find out more about the story. Was it a reasonable detainment? Seems like everything checked out fine and they were released.
