An off-duty Glendale firefighter was taken into custody Wednesday in connection with the death of his wife, who was found bludgeoned inside a North Hollywood home, according to police and broadcast reports.
Investigators took the suspect into custody about 4:25 a.m. Wednesday after determining a woman was dead inside a residence in the 5600 block of Satsuma Avenue, near Burbank Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Broadcast reports identified the suspect as an off-duty member of the Glendale Fire Department.
According to Fox11, which cited unnamed sources, the firefighter flagged down officers near the LAPD’s Northeast Station and asked them to check on the welfare of his wife, saying he had been unable to reach her. When officers went to the home, they found the body of the woman, who was in her 40s and appeared to have been attacked with an axe, the station reported.
The suspect was detained and allegedly confessed to the killing, according to the report.
