A 39-year-old man was found shot to death in Compton and sheriffs detectives Friday were investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
Deputies were called at about 1:35 a.m. Friday to the 200 block of North Bowen Avenue between East Compton Boulevard and East Palmer Street, east of Angeles Abbey Memorial Park, regarding a shooting. When they arrived at the scene, deputies found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds, according to sheriff’s homicide Lt. Michael Modica.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was later identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner as Matthews Currie.
