A man was fatally shot Tuesday in Cathedral City during a brief argument with the assailant.
Officers responded at about 11:15 a.m. Tuesday to the 30800 block of San Gabriel Circle to reports regarding a shooting, according to the Cathedral City Police Department.
Detectives determined after a preliminary investigation that the victim had sustained several gunshot wounds after being confronted by an unidentified suspect.
Despite being administered life-saving measures, the man was pronounced dead, police said.
The suspect vehicle was described as a black Dodge Durango mid-size SUV that was last seen traveling south on San Gabriel Circle toward San Luis Rey Drive.
”At our request, the Riverside Coroner’s Office is not releasing the name of the victim at this time,” the police department said in a statement, adding that the information will be released in the near future.
