A man accused of shooting two people in a parking lot in Baldwin Park, leaving them in critical condition, died by suicide overnight in Covina, police said Monday.
Officers responded to a call of shots fired in a Target parking lot in the 3100 block of Baldwin Park Boulevard shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, according to the Baldwin Park Police Department.
A man and a woman were taken to a hospital in critical condition with gunshot wounds.
Baldwin Park police tracked a suspect’s vehicle to Covina. As they attempted to approach the suspect’s car, they discovered he shot and killed himself, authorities said.
Police said they suspect the victim and the suspect knew each other, but no further motive was immediately available.
