A young man who was killed in a shooting in North Hollywood last weekend was identified Tuesday by the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office.
Officers were dispatched shortly after midnight Sunday to the 7500 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard, just south of Saticoy Street, according to Officer Norma Eisenman of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. He was later identified as 20-year-old Carlos Rojas of North Hollywood, whose cause of death was listed as “a contact gunshot wound of the head.”
A contact gunshot wound results from a firearm being placed against the victim’s body before the trigger is pulled.
Five people were detained, questioned and released at the scene and one person was subsequently taken into custody, Eisenman said.
No details about the suspect were immediately available.
