A suspect was arrested Tuesday in Claremont after leading police on a high-speed chase on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway that ended in a crash.

California Highway Patrol officers began pursuing an SUV that was traveling at high speeds eastbound on the freeway at approximately 1:50 a.m. Tuesday near North Towne Avenue in Pomona at approximately 100 mph, CHP Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service.

The suspect attempted to exit the freeway at Indian Hill Boulevard in Claremont, but lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the parking lot of a Norm’s restaurant, the CHP reported. The suspect then fled the scene on foot, heading northbound on Indian Hill from the freeway.

After a foot pursuit, CHP officers captured and arrested the suspect, Garcia said. The suspect sustained significant facial injuries during the crash.
