A big rig was fully engulfed in flames Friday on westbound Interstate 10 in Coachella before the fire was put out.
The blaze was reported shortly after 4:30 p.m. Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
According to the agency, a large bloom of black smoke could be seen and it appeared the rear tires burned off.
The Riverside County Fire Department reported that crews contained the flames shortly before 4:50 p.m., and no ambulances were requested at the scene.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
