Riverside police investigators Friday were asking anyone who may have spotted a man peering into residences around UC Riverside to contact investigators, following the arrest of a suspect allegedly caught watching female students in recent months.

Roberto Clemente Rincon, 49, of Riverside was arrested last month during a Riverside Police Department investigation into a series of peeping tom acts first reported in November.

“Incidents involved young female UCR students as victims,” police spokesman Detective Steven Espinosa said in a statement. “Rincon reportedly parked his vehicle in the area and then approached the residences at night and looked inside the windows.”

The suspect, who is 6 feet, 3 inches and 260 pounds, was arrested on Feb. 11 on suspicion of misdemeanor allegations of privacy invasions. He was booked into the Robert Presley Jail but posted bond the same day and was released.

Espinosa said detectives initiated their investigation after receiving reports in November of an unknown suspect lurking outside residential properties in the vicinity of Watkins Avenue and Interstate 215. Additional peeping incidents were reported in early February.

“Officers later obtained video footage capturing Mr. Rincon in the act,” the police spokesman said. “Detectives believe there may be additional victims of peeping who have not yet come forward. If anyone has seen Rincon, or someone with a similar description, peeking into windows, we encourage you to come forward.”

Anyone with information was urged to contact the police department’s investigative team at 951-897-5866.
