Firefighters Saturday knocked down a fire that lit up multiple palm trees in East Hollywood and activated fire sprinklers on the third floor of a three-story apartment building, authorities said.
Firefighters dispatched at 11:52 a.m. Saturday to 444 N. Virgil Ave., just north of the Hollywood (101) Freeway, had the fire out 12:14 p.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.
“Further investigation confirmed the apartment building did not sustain fire damage but activated fire sprinklers on the third floor,” the LAFD’s Margaret Stewart said. “Firefighters are conducting a water sweep inside the building and mopping up hot spots outside.”
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
