It took firefighters about 30 minutes Saturday to stop the spread of a brushfire in Shadow Hills near the Hansen Dam Recreational Area.

The fire was reported at 3:54 p.m. Saturday at 10750 W. McBroom St., according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.

It was first estimated at less than half an acre in light fuels burning under wires, Stewart said. But it was ultimately contained to less than a quarter of an acre.

Firefighters remained on the scene to put out hot spots, she said.

No injuries were reported.
