A 500-pound man was rescued Wednesday from a hole with a 3- to 4-foot diameter at a construction site in Pomona and taken to a hospital on advanced life support.
Firefighters responded at approximately 1:20 p.m. to the 1800 block of Gillette Road, near the San Bernardino (10) Freeway, according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman.
Urban Search and Rescue Team personnel conducted a trench rescue to free the 40-year-old man, the spokesman said.
The man was taken to Pomona Valley Medical Center. The extent of his injuries was not disclosed. He was not a worker at the construction site.
