California Highway Patrol officers covered a lot of ground in about 25 minutes Monday when they chased the driver in a BMW reported stolen from Montclair to Alhambra at speeds of up to 130 mph.
The pursuit started around 2:20 a.m. Monday when the BMW caught the eye of an officer on the westbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway at Central Avenue in Montclair, CHP Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service.
At some point, the officer learned the black car had been reported stolen and the driver refused to pull over, Garcia said.
The driver continued westbound on the 10 Freeway at those high speeds, past the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway and close to the Long Beach (710) Freeway where he exited to surface streets and entered the Alhambra neighborhood near Montezuma Avenue and Aurora Terrace, the officer said.
The man stopped the car and ran but he was quickly stopped by officers and taken into custody at about 2:45 a.m., Garcia said.
