A 35-year-old Compton man was sentenced to more than 22 years in federal prison Monday for kidnapping a woman for ransom in the city of Orange two years ago.
Gustavo Deluna pleaded guilty in December to the Jan. 16, 2024, abduction.
U.S. District Judge James Selna sentenced Deluna to 270 months in federal prison.
Prosecutors had recommended 293 months, while probation officials recommended 288 months behind bars.
The victim suffered serious injuries during the abduction, including deep cuts to her left hand and wrist, according to federal prosecutors.
Deluna was not considered the ringleader in the crime, prosecutors said.
