One person was killed in a crash involving two adults and two infants on the Escondido (215) Freeway in Riverside involving a sedan and at least one other vehicle, authorities said Monday.
The crash was reported at 7:35 p.m. Sunday on the northbound Escondido Freeway south of Eucalyptus Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A witness told the CHP that the sedan was demolished and another witness said two babies and two adults were inside, the CHP stated.
At 8:05 p.m., the CHP reported the mother and two infants were ready to transport to a hospital and that Riverside firefighters were working to free the father from the wreckage.
One person died in the crash, a CHP dispatcher confirmed.
Animal Control was summoned to take custody of a dog in the vehicle, the CHP stated.
A SigAlert was issued at 8:06 p.m. shutting down all northbound lanes at Eucalyptus.
The lanes were reopened at about 11:45 p.m.
