A man was killed Wednesday after a crane fell in a work zone at a Los Angeles County Public Works facility in Lancaster.
The accident was reported at 10:35 a.m. Wednesday at 260 East Avenue K-8. A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said details about the fatal accident remained limited, as county Occupational Safety and Health officials continued investigating the cause of the apparent mechanical malfunction.
Los Angeles County Fire Department crews responded to the area after receiving reports of an unspecified medical emergency, but no one was taken to a hospital, according to an LACFD spokeswoman.
The victim’s name was withheld by coroner’s officials pending notification of relatives.
