Three people were killed after a semi-truck and a vehicle collided on the Foothill (210) Freeway in Sunland, the California Highway Patrol reported Saturday.

The collision trapped the victims inside the vehicles, CHP Officer Michael Nasir told City News Service.

CHP officers were called to the eastbound freeway, east of Sunland Boulevard, at 9:53 p.m. Friday regarding a collision.

When the officers arrived, they found the victims, which included a 35-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man, who were pronounced dead at the scene, said Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman Jennifer Middleton.

The two were pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics. Nasir said a third victim was pronounced dead, but that person’s name, age and gender were not released.

The CHP issued a SigAlert for the closure of three lanes of the eastbound 210 freeway and the Sunland Boulevard exit for an unknown duration.
