A man was struck and killed by an SUV in Long Beach, authorities said Sunday.
Officers dispatched at 7:55 p.m. Saturday to the area of Pacific Place and West Wardlow Road located the pedestrian in the roadway, the Long Beach Police Department reported.
Arriving paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
“The preliminary investigation indicates the driver of a 2025 Subaru Crosstrek was traveling southbound on Pacific Place in the number one lane when he struck a pedestrian walking in the roadway, outside of a marked crosswalk,” according to a police statement.
The motorist driving the Subaru stayed at the scene and cooperated with police, authorities said. Neither speed, distracted driving nor driving under the influence were believed to be factors in the crash, police said.
