A 28-year-old Los Angeles man suspected of stealing items from a Cabazon business and pepper-spraying an individual was behind bars Wednesday.
Andrew Michael Phillip Hogans was booked into the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on Tuesday on suspicion of robbery and illegal use of pepper-spray, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Bail information was not immediately available.
Deputies responded to a report of a robbery on March 28 in the 48600 block of Seminole Drive. According to sheriff’s Sgt. Josh Button, Hogans and another suspect went inside the business and grabbed multiple items from displays when a victim, whose name was not disclosed, confronted the suspects and was subsequently pepper-sprayed.
Both suspects fled the scene, and the victim was taken to a hospital.
Hogans, who was identified as one of the suspects, was found Tuesday in the 5400 block of Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles and taken into custody without incident.
Button said additional suspects are believed to be involved in the robbery, and the investigation was ongoing. Anyone with information about the case was asked to contact Deputy Sean Patrick at the Cabazon sheriff’s station at 951-922-7100.
