A pedestrian was fatally struck by an Amtrak train Monday in Glendale.

Officers and paramedics were dispatched at 12:07 p.m. to the area of Grandview Avenue and San Fernando Road following reports of a train hitting a pedestrian, according to the Glendale Police Department.

The pedestrian was walking along the tracks at the time, police said. It was unclear why.

The man, believed to be between 50 and 60 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His name was not immediately released, pending notification of relatives.
