A 3-year-old boy reported missing after possibly being abducted was located Tuesday.

Messiah Evans had been the subject of an Amber Alert for Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties that also named 38-year-old Joshua Pendelton man as his possible abductor, police said.

The California Highway Patrol, which issued the Amber Alert on behalf of the Los Angeles Police Department, reported that police in Gardena informed the agency Tuesday morning the child had been located.

It was not immediately clear if Pendelton, who was believed to be driving a white 2006 Saturn VUE, was in custody.

An Amber Alert is issued to ask the public for help in finding abducted children.
