A man in his 40s was fatally wounded in a stabbing Wednesday near Union Station in downtown Los Angeles.
Firefighters were called at about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday to the 800 block of Alameda Street, the location of Union Station, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
A 43-year-old victim was in “at least grave condition” when taken to a hospital, according to a fire department spokeswoman, who said the stabbing was reported by Union Station security.
According to reports from the scene, the man was stabbed across Alameda Street and collapsed in front of the station after crossing the road.
He did not survive, the Los Angeles Police Department later confirmed, and a homicide investigation was launched.
No suspect information was immediately available.
