One motorcycle rider was arrested on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway in Alhambra Tuesday after a pursuit by the California Highway Patrol that reached speeds of 100 mph while a second rider managed to escape the pursuing officers.
The CHP officers responded at 9:41 p.m. Monday to the westbound freeway near Vincent Avenue regarding a call for speeding and began chasing the motorcycle riders, CHP Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service.
One of the motorcycle riders sped away toward the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway and the second rider continued into the East Los Angeles area, where he eventually crashed near Fremont Avenue in Alhambra.
The rider was arrested and taken to a hospital in an unknown condition , Garcia said.
Video from the scene showed a CHP officer carrying a gun in an evidence bag recovered from the crash site.
Garcia said the motorcyclist who drove toward the 605 Freeway escaped the pursuit.
