Police Tuesday are investigating a shooting in the South Park neighborhood of South Los Angeles that left one person wounded.

Officers from the department’s Newton Division were called around 11 p.m. Monday to the intersection of East 46th Street and South Avalon Boulevard where they found the wounded victim, an LAPD officer told City News Service.

Witnesses reported that a large group of suspects fired on the victim before fleeing the area, possibly in a white vehicle, according to reports from the scene.

The victim — whose name, age or gender was not immediately known — was taken to a hospital and his condition was not disclosed.

The shooting drew a large police response as the officers scoured the immediate area for evidence.

There was no suspect information.
