A middle school in Cypress Park was briefly placed on lockdown Thursday after a report of an armed suspect, which police later determined was a hoax.

Officers responded about 2:30 p.m. to the 3000 block of North Figueroa Street following reports of a possible gunman, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police searched the area and found no evidence of an armed suspect, concluding the call was false.

Florence Nightingale Middle School was placed on lockdown during the investigation, which was later lifted.

No injuries were reported, and police did not release any information about a possible suspect responsible for the hoax.
