Firefighters worked Saturday to put out a grass fire on the side of the San Diego (405) Freeway in the Sepulveda Basin area.
The fire was reported at 6:27 p.m. Saturday on the southbound San Diego Freeway just north of Burbank Boulevard, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Jennifer Middleton.
Helicopters dropping water on another grass fire, in Elysian Park, were reassigned to the Sepulveda Basin fire, Middleton said.
The California Highway Patrol shut down southbound and northbound traffic in the area, according to its online log. The northbound lanes were reopened at 7:12 p.m. but southbound lanes between Burbank and Victory boulevards remained closed. The southbound lanes were reopened at about 8:05 p.m.
The blaze was one of three grass fires on Los Angeles freeways in less than two hours. The others were on the transition from the northbound Hollywood (101) Freeway to the northbound Harbor (110) Freeway downtown, and southbound 110 at Stadium Way in Elysian Park.
