The Mount Wilson Trail was open again Sunday, one day after a hiker fell off the side of the trial and died.

The fall was reported at about 2 p.m. Saturday, according to the Sierra Madre Police Department.

Police shut down the trail while officers and Sierra Madre Search and Rescue responded. Search and Rescue teams were used to locate and access the hiker due to rugged terrain, police said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The hiker’s name, age and gender were not immediately released.

Police announced at 7:22 a.m. Sunday that the trail had reopened.
