A small fire that charred a wall between two units in a three-story Westlake building was put out Monday, with no reported injuries.

Firefighters responded about 3:25 p.m. Monday to the 200 block of South La Fayette Park Place, where a fire sparked by pipe-fitting work broke out, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

LAFD spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz said that fire crews opened the walls to locate and knock down the flames and to ensure all charring was cooled.
