A man in his 30s was hit by a car in North Hollywood and police Wednesday were looking for the driver, who fled the scene.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s North Hollywood Division were called at 1:53 a.m. Wednesday to Magnolia Boulevard just west of Tujunga Avenue near the Hollywood (170) Freeway and North Hollywood Recreation Center Park, an LAPD spokeswoman told City News Service.
Police said a gray, newer-model BMW, possibly a Series 5 model, was traveling west on Magnolia when it struck the victim, a man in his 30s who was crossing the street outside a marked crosswalk.
The Los Angeles Fire Department arrived at the scene and pronounced the pedestrian dead.
The driver continued west on Magnolia without stopping, police said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Anyone with information that could help identify the driver was urged to call the LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division at 818-644-8115 to speak with Officer Freeman or 818-644-8028 to speak with Detective Barragan.
