A man was fatally struck by a light rail train in Highland Park Thursday.
The death, involving a train on Metro’s Gold Line, was reported at 7:17 a.m. Thursday in the area of 100 N. Avenue 61, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The approximately 60-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, the LAFD reported.
It was not immediately why the man was on the tracks.
Metro suspended rail service and deployed bus shuttles replace train service between the Filmore and Highland park Stations.
