A suspect who launched a pursuit, after failing to yield to authorities during a traffic stop, ending in Indio was arrested Thursday.
Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop for unknown reasons at 12:31 p.m. Thursday in the area of Calhoun Street and Avenue 48 when the driver sped off, causing the deputy to fall and prompting a pursuit, according to Lt. Deirdre Vickers of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
No injuries were reported.
Deputies found the vehicle unoccupied in the 83000 block of Horizon Avenue. Police officers, who assisted in the search, urged residents to remain indoors and to report any suspicious activity, according to the Indio Police Department.
The suspect, who was not identified, was found and taken into custody without incident at 1:20 p.m. in the 83000 block of Wexford Avenue.
