A 60-year-old man who was fatally struck by a light rail train in Highland Park was identified by county authorities Monday.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office determined the victim was Rafael Cruz,

The fatal collision involving a train on Metro’s Gold Line was reported at 7:17 a.m. Thursday in the area of 100 N. Avenue 61, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The victim, Cruz, was pronounced dead at the scene, the LAFD reported.

It was not immediately clear why Cruz was on the tracks.

Metro suspended rail service and deployed bus shuttles to replace train service between the Fillmore and Highland park Stations.

Regular rail service resumed by about 11 a.m., according to Metro.
