Authorities sought the public’s help Tuesday in locating an at-risk 78-year-old man last seen in Hawthorne, prompting the issuance of a Silver Alert.
Ruben Martinez was last seen at approximately 11 a.m. on May 3 near Prairie Avenue and 138th Street, according to the California Highway Patrol, which activated the alert on behalf of the Hawthorne Police Department.
Martinez was described as a 5-foot-tall man weighing 130 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black sweater and blue pants.
Anyone with information regarding Martinez’s whereabouts was urged to contact 911.
The Silver Alert program was established by the CHP to issue and coordinate alerts involving the unexplained or suspicious disappearances of elderly, developmentally disabled or cognitively impaired individuals.
