A stabbing suspect who barricaded himself in an Exposition Park-area home for several hours and was later found dead was identified Wednesday by county authorities.
Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office determined the suspect was Jerardo Perez Lopez, 31.
The stabbing was reported at about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 1700 block of West 37th Drive, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The victim was taken to a hospital in unknown condition.
Police said Lopez barricaded himself for about four hours before investigators discovered that he was dead at the scene.
KTLA5 reported that the 58-year-old victim and Lopez are father and son.
No details about the suspect were immediately released, including a cause of death.
It was unclear what prompted the stabbing.
