Traffic investigators from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lancaster Station Thursday are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision where a man was struck by an SUV in Lancaster.
The collision occurred at 9:50 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Sierra Highway and Avenue J-8 involving a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was walking eastbound across Sierra Highway, just south of Avenue J-8 when a woman driving a black SUV southbound on Sierra Highway struck the pedestrian, said Det. Cody Choppe of the Lancaster Station.
The victim, who deputies say was walking outside of a marked crosswalk, was taken to Antelope Valley Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, Choppe said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation and anyone with information about it is asked to contact the traffic investigators at Lancaster Sheriff Station at 661-948-8466.
