A 26-year-old man shot to death while trying to break up a fight between two women at a pizza restaurant in Wilmington was identified Friday.

The shooting occurred at 5:51 p.m. Saturday at Red West Pizza, at 614 W. Pacific Coast Highway, about one-third of a mile east of Wilmington Boulevard, according to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman.

The victim, identified Friday by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office as Jorbin Castellanos Aguilera, and another man were shot by a male when Aguilera was trying to break up the fight, authorities said.

The suspect ran away, the LAPD spokesman said.

Aguilera sustained multiple gunshot wounds was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Paramedics took the wounded man in his early to mid-20s to a hospital, where he had stable vital signs.

The events that prompted the violence were not immediately clear.
