A Hawthorne man was charged Tuesday with fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend in Tustin.
Juan Marquez, 47, was charged with murder with a special circumstance allegation of lying in wait and a sentencing enhancement for discharge of a gun causing death.
Marquez was accused of killing 42-year-old Sandra Fernandez of Anaheim at Yorba Street and Medford Avenue on Thursday, police said.
Marquez allegedly attacked the victim at her workplace, police said.
He was accused of fleeing across the border at San Ysidro, where he was detained Saturday by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers, police said.
