A suspect was in custody Monday in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man in Huntington Park.

The deadly attack was reported at 12:03 a.m. Sunday in the 3500 block of Florence Avenue, according to the Huntington Park Police Department.

Officers responded to the scene on a report of an altercation and found the victim, a 33-year-old Cudahy resident, with stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Los Angeles County Office of Medical Examiner identified the man Monday as Jorge Lopez.

Police, along with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which is leading the investigation, released a description and photos of a person of interest in the case. Early Monday afternoon, police said detectives “located an individual matching information developed during the investigation and confirmed the suspect’s identity,” and the man was taken into custody.

The suspect’s name was not immediately released.
