A suspect was in custody Monday in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man in Huntington Park.

The deadly attack occurred just after midnight Sunday morning in the 3500 block of Florence Avenue, according to the Huntington Park Police Department.

Officers responded to the scene on a report of an altercation and found the victim, a 35-year-old Cudahy resident, with stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police, along with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which is leading the investigation, released a description and photos of a person of interest in the case. Early Monday afternoon, police said detectives “located an individual matching information developed during the investigation and confirmed the suspect’s identity,” and the man was taken into custody.

The suspect’s name was not immediately released. The name of the victim also was withheld, pending notification of relatives.
