A trucker was killed Monday when his big rig collided with another one at a Jurupa Valley intersection.

The fatality occurred at 4:25 a.m. Monday at Etiwanda and Inland avenues, within the warehousing district less than a mile east of the Interstate 15/60 Freeway interchange, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Agency spokesman Sgt. Ignacio Robles said one tractor-trailer entered the intersection at the same time as another one, triggering the collision.

Patrol deputies and paramedics reached the location a few minutes later and “located one driver … lying on the ground, suffering major injuries.”

The victim, whose identity was not immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Robles said the second trucker, also not publicly identified, was taken to a regional trauma center for treatment of unspecified non-life-threatening injuries.

Intoxicating substances are not suspected in the crash, which remains under investigation.

No further details were provided.

The area where the accident occurred is crowded with truck traffic 24 hours, seven days a week due to the concentration of warehouses.
