An investigation was underway Tuesday after a mother and daughter were struck and killed by a vehicle in Stanton.
Deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s Stanton station responded around 8 p.m. Monday to Cerritos and Magnolia avenues regarding a collision. When they arrived, the deputies learned the two victims had been struck by a vehicle outside of a crosswalk, Sheriff’s Sgt. Gerard McCann said.
The victims were later identified as 61-year-old Amadilia Noemy Cruz and 34-year-old Gabriela Armadilia Cruz, both of Anaheim.
Both women were rushed to an area hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.
Deputies said the driver who struck the women remained at the scene and was cooperative.
The cause of the collision was being investigated, but authorities said it’s not suspected that the driver was impaired.
