A total of six people were arrested during a DUI checkpoint in Banning, authorities announced Saturday.
The checkpoint was conducted from 6 p.m. Friday to 1:30 a.m. Saturday in the 5400 block of West Ramsey Street, according to the Banning Police Department.
A total of 1,220 vehicles were contacted. Five people were arrested on suspicion of operating a vehicle with a suspended license for prior DUI and one additional person was arrested for felony warrants and charges of evading a peace officer and possession of a controlled substance, according to the BPD.
Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
