A fundraising effort was underway Monday for the family of a 28-year-old man who relatives say was found dead after he was reported missing in Palm Desert.
Miguel Angel Chavez was last seen June 1 on Coyote Song Way.
“Miguel was only 28-years-old when his life was tragically cut short after being left stranded in the desert during a date,” relatives wrote on a GoFundMe page.
The fundraiser had raised $10,760 out of the $14,000 goal as of Monday morning.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said “human remains were found in the area of Washington Street and Coyote Song Way” on Friday, but formal identification was still pending from the Coroner’s Bureau.
No other details about Chavez’s disappearance and apparent death were immediately released.
