Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department’s Fraud & Cyber Crimes Bureau will be available for media interviews Wednesday to address World Cup-related online scams targeting the public, including fraudulent websites, fake ticket offers, and suspicious payment requests that can result in significant financial loss and identity theft, the department announced.
Detectives will also provide prevention tips, discuss warning signs residents should look for, and share information on resources available to victims.
Informative displays will be shown to highlight examples of fake websites and common scam tactics, the LASD said.
